A condition of mental and emotional strain with demanding circumstances is what is referred to as stress. Stress affects the mental health of a person. Many things can cause stress. People are affected by the causes of stress differently. Our workplaces can be our source of stress. At the workplace, one can be affected by being unhappy with the job, working for long hours, and working under dangerous conditions. The other category of stress is the life stress. Under life stress, there is the death of a loved one, divorce, loss of a job and getting married.

Sometimes however, stress can come from inside. It is possible to stress oneself by worrying about some things. The fear of certainty, attitude and perceptions, unrealistic expectations, and major life changes can make a person worry a lot hence resulting to stress. Stress is not something that is healthy. This is why people are advised to try as much as possible to be stress free. There are proven negative health effects of stress. Irritability, a headache, fatigue, and difficulty in sleeping are the examples of the health implications of stress. Some of these conditions are vital. However, there are ways that can help a stressed person to do away with the stress.

The simple tips of dealing with stress are as follows. It is important that a stressed person should avoid caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol. Both nicotine and caffeine are stimulants. These substances affect increasing the stress levels as opposed to the belief of reducing the stress levels. Alcohol is a depressant when taken in large quantities, however, it is not a helpful way of dealing with stress. Another way of managing stress is getting enough sleep. This is so, since lack of enough sleep is capable of causing stress. Another tip of managing stress is the utilization of the relaxation techniques. Most of them are tried and tested.

Physical exercise is another method of managing stress. Stress is characterized by the increasing levels of stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline. Exercise can therefore boost the production of these hormones. It is not a must for someone to do a vigorous physical exercise to achieve this. One can even walk in fresh air. A more permanent situation is the incorporation of physical activities in your daily routine.

There are certain ways on how exercise help in stress management. Exercise has the effect of pumping endorphins into the body. The endorphins are known as brain’s feel-good transmitters. When someone exercises, they tend to forget about the irritations that they have had. Another way on how exercise reduces the stress levels is by improving someone’s mood. This is done by increasing one’s self-confidence, it can help someone to relax and can also lower the symptoms of mild depression and anxiety.
